as a video card or graphics card.  A

                Knowing the very basics of what
a graphics can help to provide a better understanding on why one might be
better than another and why the GTX 1080TI is better than most. The GPU that
runs the GTX 1080TI is called GP 102 it shares this GPU with The GTX Titan. This
GPU is based on the Pascal microarchitecture and it a cut down version of its
bigger brother the GP100 used only in the Tesla P100. According to data provided
by Steve Burke from Gamers Nexus the 1080TI has 3.3 billion less transistors, 8
less render output units, half as many SM’s at 28. However, the Cuda Core count
stays the same with 3585 cores, GPCs and, Texture mapping units are also the
same. The GTX 1080TI has a 11 Gigabytes of GDDR5X VRam, a 352bit memory bus, with

community that where was a shortage of HBM2. Due to the high volume of GTX 1080
and 1080TI that Nvidia planned to sell there was no feasible way that Nvidia
could have used  the superior technology,
so it was only made available in the Tesla card.   

                When comparing the GTX 1080TI to
the previous Generation GTX 980TI bases on the Maxwell microarchitecture there
are many are many. To start off with the GTX 1080Ti’s new architecture as well
and different manufacturing proses allows the 1080TI to fit more transistor
into the same amount of space. This makes the 1080TI faster, cooler and consume
less power over all than its predecessor. The GTX 1080TI also have a larger
amount of Vram which is also a generation ahead of what is available on the 980TI.
Nvidia removed the ability to use more and two of their cards at a time for
game acceleration. According to Leo Durana’s information of the Pascal keynote,
Pascal has a special type of data compression not seen on older cards, this next
generation delta color compression means that although memory bandwidth and though
put is lower than what was planned they were still able to make improvements in
performance of the memory though software (Durana). Another noteworthy now advancement
that come with owning a GTX 1080TI is a software implementation called Simultaneous
multi-projection. This strangely named bit of software intends to alleviate a problem
that hard-core games specifically have faced since spreading a game across 3
monitors began. When rendered a game the traditional way the software that
renders your game has to determine how to project parts of  3 dimensional objects onto your screen in
order to give you a sense of depth or else what you see will look distorted.
Given normal circumstances this would not be an issue and for the majority of
people its fine. Unfortunately, or fortunately given your point of view, there
are people that want to play their games on 3 monitors horizontal side by side.
If we go back to the original rendering method,  you render the image on all 3 screen the way you
would just a single screen the rendering engine has no idea that there are 3
monitors. It is treated as one long surface and renders them as if they are side
by side and completely flat. At this point the image is only slightly  already starting to look distorted but from
experience is still off putting. This problem becomes even worse however when the
user decides that the two monitories on the side are two far away and wants to
bring them in closer to them for a better viewing and immersive experience as
well as space savings. This puts the two-outside monitory at an angle likely
one  under 45 degrees and the image toward
the outside of the side monist becomes extremely distorted. This is the issue
the simultaneous multi-protection aims to stop. What it essentially does is display
a different image onto each screen as if it was the only screen being rendered.
To the user it will appear that 3 different images are being rendered and
displayed to each monitory when in reality the image is only being rendered
once and being pinched at the seams. This process of only rending one image as opposed
to the full 3 is most likely to do with graphics compute limitations that we
have today.

GTX 1080TI is a graphics card that was designed for gamming. Being thousands of
dollars less than the Tesla p100 a card that is very closely related, it is tuned
specifically for gamming. Comparing it to the tesla the GTX1080TI has a stoke boost
close that is 180 MHz Higher and is  built for overclocking, the GTX 1080ti as of time
of writing holds the record for fasted graphics card using the well renowned 3dMark
Time spy extreme benchmark. Nvidia themselves also market this as a gaming product
according the product page for the 1080TI Nvidia describes it as there “new
flagship gaming GPU” and that “this card packed with extreme gaming horsepower”

 The  is a specific reason that this card is solely
being geared toward gamers but nobody else. Yes, the GTX 1080TI is the best Gaming
GPU but it is also very good at doing everything that a Tesla card is made to
do things like 3D rendering, modeling and video editing, and other GPGPU talks
can all be done just with one less gigabyte of Vram and no double precision. If
Nvidia marketed this card as anything over than a card for gamers they would
probably lose money in their workstation hardware department.

GTX 1080TI is very amazing product. It has taken them Nvidia  24 years to consistently be the top of the GPU
market and the GTX 1080TI is currently leading the way. The GTX 1080TI  is the most powerful single GPU gaming graphics
card built on Nvidia’s most complex and featureful microarchitecture yet. This card
would be a delight to own by anyone, even those do wouldn’t take full advantage
of it. Assuming they can swallow its 700 dolor price tag.
