Pursuing master’s degree is a responsibility I
owe to myself. I am citing it as responsibility for proactive outlook on life,
which makes me go after the things and accomplish. Intensive knowledge in production
engineering is where my purpose and passion intersect. Since adolescence, sports
bike & car intrigued me and made me spend hours thinking how they are
designed and transformed into such an allure thing. Hence, there are no second
thoughts in me pursuing a technically oriented career. During higher secondary
schooling, I showed special interest in mathematics and sciences. The basics learnt
in school only whetted my appetite for more.  I, therefore, chose to take admission in under
graduate course with specialization in Manufacturing Technology at
JSS Academy of Technical Education, Noida, India after emerging
amongst the top 5% students in the state entrance examination.

The course curriculum exposed me a variety of
subjects including Modern Manufacturing Methods, Advanced Manufacturing
Systems, CAD/CAM, Quality Management and Design of Machine elements etc. During
this period, I completed a thesis study focused on “Optimization of turning parameters by the Taguchi method for obtaining
optimum surface finish” under the guidance of Dr.B.K.Jha. In this
study, Taguchi method and analysis of variance (ANOVA) was employed to develop
a turning process model to achieve the optimum surface finish. This was then verified
experimentally by machining EN19 material and appropriate surface finish was
achieved. The thesis was very well appreciated by my peers and professors alike
and this further fortified my decision to pursue research.  I authored several other papers and completed
practical implementations of the thesis at industrial premises of Motherson

my undergrad, I joined JSW Steel, India’s largest private sector steel producer
with a capacity of 18 MTPA, designated as Senior Engineer in I-shop
department, a manufacturing unit catering for new equipments, spares
and repair work of integrated steel plant. As a planning team we are
responsible for planning of jobs, design review and finalization, budgeting,
overseeing on-site fabrication, quality management and execution of various
projects in the department. Process planning and scheduling related to
individual project/jobs is done on PP and PM modules in SAP ERP.

Shot Blasting process, taught me an in-depth practical Knowledge from design to
machining to assembly of parts. As an engineer, it was pride moment when a
project accomplished successfully within a given span of time, but for the same
when I was awarded by a company with an Exemplary Award was like cherry on a

next project as a team was to manufacture an in-house TCM (Torch Cutting
Machine) for Steel Melting Shop – 2. This was most crucial project not only for
I-shop but company point of view also, as JSW introducing a new caster in SMS-2
to increase the production of slab for High Grade Steel. In this, our team not
only saves company’s money but most importantly the time, approx. 2160 hrs. The
other projects in which I worked as a team member are manufacturing of Electric
Optimizing Furnace (EOF) for JSW mother plant Salem, equipments for Metal
Granulation Plant (MGP) of Blast Furnace. Currently, we are working on PLTCM
(Pickling Lines and Tandem Cold Mills) for CRM, JSW Steel Vijaynagar Plant. 

Additionally, I also enhanced my software skills in Solid Works,
CATIA and PRO-E. I keenly engaged myself in extracurricular activities
throughout my academic tenure, as strongly believe that you get the same
from the society what you want to give it. I  was selected amongst thousands of applicants
to participate in a UN joint conference with Indian Astrobiology research Center
(IACR) called the RIO+21 IYWC INDIA CERTIFICATION PROGRAM. This conference
helped me understand the need for safe, affordable, and accessible water supply
and relate how production and manufacturing engineers like me would be
responsible for developing next generation filters and purifying systems. This
greatly inspired to make a change in the life of many people living in
countries like my own where clean water is still inaccessible. Even during the
three year with JSW Steel, I have been associated with JSW Foundation, a
subsidiary of JSW Group, working for the welfare of a society and
helping in organizing a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities
such as girl child education, women empowerment and many more in rural area and
aware them their effect on a society. Thus, the education I would draw during master’s
degree would enable me to use scientific research to benefit the society at

I, hence seek to bolster and enhance my
existing knowledge and expertise acquired throughout my years of engineering
career through a more rigorous and in-depth understanding. Pursuing masters
from the country which is the benchmark for sustainable industrialization and
heavily involved in research and development in a domain that I seek is a
logical choice. Master’s degree in
Production Engineering and Management with courses like Production
Engineering-Planning and Control, Modeling and Simulation of Industrial
Processes, my admission in one of the best equipped and culturally diverse
campus of KTH Royal Institute of Technology will pave the way for
building a career in research. I hope and envision myself to be a contributor
to the revolution that Industry 4.0 will bring about in the near
