Fast of the population, monotonous job contentment, low

Fast forward a year later, some of the biggest
names in the local hotel industry have already successfully implemented robots
in not just back end operations, but also customer- facing roles. For example, At
M Social Hotel, working process of AURA, the first guest-facing robot in
Singapore’s Hotel Industry that delivers items like bottled water, towels,
toiletries, and packed meals has made guests and staffs cheerful. As more
hotels assign basic tasks to non-human solutions, employees are more likely to
have a view that robots will take jobs away from them which is not absolutely
correct. Automation will complement our work, by relieving staff of menial jobs.
Therefore, Employees can focus on providing personalized touches and surprise
to delight guests who stay with us on special occasions or have the special
requests and engage them on a deeper level.

At this point it is important to note that decreasing
growth rate of the population, monotonous job contentment, low female
participation rate, and differences in the view of younger generation are the
main cause of this problem, in fact in Sep 2016 according to The Ministry of
Manpower unemployment for residents rose in June 2016 by 0.3 percent to a total
of 3 percent, for the first time since June 2012 (Labor Market 2016, MOM). So
on, A total of 4800 employees were made redundant in the second quarter of
2016, the highest second redundancy since 2009 at 5980 job reductions. To
survival and stand out of the city, the hotel industry has been using
particular methods to avoid shortage of labor, such as encouraging housewives,
retirees and students to work, providing on-job-training, skills, flexible work
schedule and most importantly using robots and computers to do various tasks.
By now, many hotels have stepped up their game by procuring new technology and
introducing revamped workflows to improve processes in their fight to survive
an increasingly competitive landscape since the launch of the Hotel Industry Transformation
Map by the Ministry for Trade and Industry (MTI) in Nov 2016 which is aimed to
adopt manpower-lean business models, innovate and grow the workforce which
means the implementation of robot achieve a balance between it.
