During accuracy when the eyewitness identifies someone from

During
the line up procedure, the test results are provided by the witness. After
choosing someone from the line up the witness can show some degree of
confidence the choosen person is the perpetrator. When the diagnostic signal is
higher so will the witness confidence. The eyewitness memory literature
confidence based ROC has not compared the different lineups procedures because
it was thought that the relationship between confidence and accuracy was weak. Only
when confidence ratings are taken when positive identification is first made
will the relationship between confidence and accuracy be strong. Along with
these conceptions, there has been other studies that have shown there is a
strong relationship between confidence and accuracy when the eyewitness identifies
someone from a lineup.
