Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are praising Banquo. Macbeth invites him to a ceremonial dinner.Macbeth believes he rather be a paranoid king than be a nothing. He believes Banquo is untrustworthy. Macbeth wants to kill Banquo and his descendants because he does not want a person who has no blood relationship to himself to be an heir to the throne. Macbeth tells the murderers where Banquo and his son are going to be and ask them to kill him, filling their mind with all the negative things Banquo has done in his past.Scene 2:Lady Macbeth asks a servant if Banquo has left the palace (He has left). Lady Macbeth is worried and paranoid someone has found out they killed to get the throne. Macbeth has started spending a lot of time alone. Lady Macbeth is sad, Macbeth no longer comes to her. She tries to to comfort Macbeth by saying “Using those thoughts which should indeed have died With them they think on?” (your worrying thoughts should have died when king Duncan did) ” Things without all remedy Should be without regard”(Things that can’t fixed should not be thought about). Macbeth thinks upcoming kings (duncan’s sons ) will disguise themselves as a “serpent” and attack them. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth will use there faces like “vizards”(masks) to hide their “hearts”(true feelings)Macbeth arranged to kill Banquo and his son Fleance before the dinner.Macbeth thinks the only way to keep his position is to murder more people. Scene 3:Macbeth sends two men to kill Banquo and Fleance because he knows that Banquo suspects him of Duncan’s murderThe first two men are joined by a third manThey hear Banquo entering the palace (Third Murderer: Hark! I hear horses. Banquo (within): Give us a light there, ho!)The second murderer sees Banquo’s torch (Second Murderer: A light, a light!) Banquo and Fleance enter. Fleance is holding a torch The murderers attack Banquo. Leaving Fleance out, Banquo screams for him to run away (Banquo: O, treachery! Fly, good Fleance, fly, fly, fly!)After they murder Banquo the third murderer asked who put out the torch, but then he says that; Fleance who was holding the torch has fled.The second murderer said they’ve lost because they let Fleance get away but they at least completed half the taskScene 4: Macbeth is throwing a dinner party (banquet) welcoming all his guests to take a seat. While everyone is taking a seat the first murderer enters with a drip of blood on his phone and tells Macbeth that Banquo has been slain but Fleance got away. Macbeth gets worrisome of Fleance still being alive and of the things he knows and seen. Lady Macbeth tells her husband no to worry. Macbeth raises his glass for a toast. As he says his toast he sees that the table is full. Whilst everyone sees one seat empty; Macbeth becomes paranoid now seeing the ghost of Banquo. Everyone assumes that the king is not well because of his actions but Lady Macbeth reassures them that he is fine and tries to calm down Macbeth; as the ghost (which only Macbeth can see) disappears and reappears during the banquet. Macbeth tells Lady Macbeth he has heard from a servant spy that, Macduff ( Thane of Fife) is suspicious of him.
