AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE SECURITY AND ACCIDENT ALERT SYSTEM

 

 

ABSTRACT

 

 

The objective of this project is to develop
a vehicle tracking system with an accidental alert which is android application
based. This report explores techniques used in the development of project we
have discussed different stages of the development. The project uses Android
platform to detect major accidents, we have used smartphone sensors to detect
an accident.  Smartphone sensor was beneficial
and more reliable than external sensors. We have used laws of physics to detect
accidents and G-force values. Setting up the threshold value was a challenging
task.

Life of a person is the most valuable
thing, delay in the medical services cause loss of important lives. This system
senses any accident and calls out for help in terms of a preprogramed number
which can be a number of the ambulance service or the owner or family member.

 

Autonomous vehicle security and accidental
alert is a whole package of safety and security in which the car can be easily
locked when it is theft (by the authentic user). It also provides the features
of accidental alert and where ever a car gets hit it will let the Hospital, the
ambulance and the family member(s) know about the accident.

CHAPTER 1 

 

1 INTRODUCTION

Background

In the previous times, we have seen tracker
which involve the third party influence but our tracking system does not
involve third-party influence and it is android based so it’s different from
the previous invention and what makes it more different is the accidental
alert.it sends the location to the ambulance so that it gets easier for the
medical aid to arrive.

Problem Statements

We have tried to eliminate
the third party influence when a car gets snatched, the victim is the most
aware person so it’s easy for the victim to act or respond accordingly. Finding
out the occurrence of the accident is a difficult task setting up the threshold
value is sometimes the most challenging task.

Aims and Objectives

In case of an accident, there will be a preprogramed
number which can be a family member or ambulance service.

Reducing the third party element was one of
the prior goals because reporting the tracker service to switch off the engine
was time taking and the tracker service asks for the ID check which could be
difficult for a person in a situation like this.

Kids who are not allowed to drive by their
parents due to underage can be observed by their parents with the help of
location feature.

Scope of Project

To reduce the third party element from
tracker devices because informing the third party is time taking sometimes
difficult in the situation like this. After the occurrence of the accident
timely help was the motive.

 

 

 

CHAPTER 2 

 

2 LITERATURE REVIEW

 

 

 

  2.1   Survey
of the Related Work;

The project consists of 2 major elements
GPS and GSM, the GPS is for the location tracking of the vehicle in case of an accident
the GSM send the msg. So GSM and GPS are 2 major parts of the system. The user
has an application on his mobile to trace his vehicle and the other part is
fixed in the vehicle to route signals to the user phone.

 

 

2.2    BACKGROUND

The Fleet managers were very much into the
matter of getting correct information sometimes it was about the logistics,
sometimes it was about the theft, sometimes it was about the driver not doing
his job properly so a fleet is always about observing to get desired efficiency
and a tracker is the only solution.

 

 

 

CHAPTER 3

 

PROJECT DESIGN

 

 

 

MAJOR COMPONENTS THAT WERE USED

 

3.1    GSM MODULE

                          

  GSM Network:

GSM at its time the GSM cell phones become
an emerging cellular telecommunication at the present time because the said
based handset gain a popularity for its easy availability and the network
service which was provided by them was more reliable because the GSM was giving
opportunity that was highly liked due to SMS messaging facility as well as
world roaming and also SIM cards furthermore they in hence more facility as
provided the technology that is called GPRS and Edge so it become a highly used
telecommunication through the world .

 

    GSM history-beginnings:

 

The Adequate and
limited frequency become a chief cause of decline and drastic fall of the said
analog system mobile phones as the modulated channels was used for carrying
data for voice channeling obligation occurred the heavy use of same annunciated
mobiles used in a heavy scale and a fierce lacking. The obligations. usher the
thought to probe new system in cellar technology to make it more work worthy
these obligation caused to go towards the GSM network
Technical Details:

GSM is 2nd generation digital mobile-phone
network. After digitalizing and compressing voice-data, GSM then forwards it
through a channel along two other user’s-data stream. It is operated in 900MHz,
1800MHz or 1900MHz frequency bandwidth.

The GSM network has three major parts;

The subscriber,
one who is using a GSM based mobile phone.

·        
The
base-station-subsystem, for controlling the radio links with the mobile-phones.

·        
The
network-subsystem, the call exchanging between the mobile-phone users is
performed.

software and hardware. Arduino has the ability to take the inputs and

2 DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

 

 

PROJECT
METHODOLOGY

The system relies on the smart phone and
relays installed in the vehicle. The major part of the project is based on the
android application, which is operated remotely by the user him/her self. There
are two modules of this system, which are as follow:

 

 

Vehicle Security:

For the sake of security, a smart mobile is
attached in the vehicle, having an android application installed in it. The
replica of the application is installed in the User’s smart cell phone, and can
be operated remotely. The user can easily track the vehicle through the android
application (with the help of GPS), also have options to switch on/off the
engine remotely (interaction of android with relays).

Accident Alert:

In this module, purely Android Application
and Google Maps are involved. When the car faces an accident, the nearest
hospital along with ambulance, and the family member(s) will let know about the
accident and the place it took place through SMS, which is generated and sent
automatically on real time, with real parameters.

2 IMPLMENTATION

2.1                  
SETTING UP THE DEVICE IN THE
VECHILE

Setup your device in the car sync it with
the wiring so that if it is signalled engine off it proceeds by turning of the
engine, relays are connected with the wiring and GSM module gets the
signal  and helps in “switching”

Find out the main switching wiring in the
car it can be from ignition, fuel pump or the battery terminals whatever suits
your dynamics

 

 

2.2                  
ANDROID APPLICATION.

The android based application is installed
in the phone and helps in finding location of the car, engine on and off are
the measure features of the application.

The application is linked up with the
google maps to trace out the location of the car.

CHAPTER 3 

 

3 RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

 

 

The
sole purpose of the accidental alert was to save human life by responding
timely and find out the correct location to provide medical help we have used
mobile sensors and the results were promising GPS sensors and accelerometer are
used in the accidental alert system. The GPS is used to track the location and
accelerometer is used to judge the accident.

 

 

3.1                  
Results

The project was an ultimate success when it
comes to implementation and testing.

The testing phase was successful and the
device and application did work out.

Results were over whelming and the location
trace out feature is so sensitive that even a slight change in location can be
seen on the map.

 

 

3.2                  
Sensor selections

Why we have preferred phone sensor? We
could have chosen any external sensor but the occurrence of external sensor
wasn’t a wise decision there was so much noise  

and wasn’t helping to judge a accident,
chances to judge correct accident were reducing and wasn’t working out for us
so we decided to choose phone sensors accelerometer  which is 
more accurate than the  external
sensors vibration sensor could be one option but the noise level was to much

 

CHAPTER 4 

 

4 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

 

Car accident is the major
cause to loose life of people. Pervious ways to detect car accident was by the
airbag sensor but it wasn’t that promising some times because we have seen the
blow of airbag on speed breakers so we decided to come up with the
accelerometer

 

4.1                  
Tracking vehicle

In this paper, we have proposed a method of
Vehicle tracking used to track the Theft vehicle by using GPS and GSM technology.
When the theft is identified, the Responsible people send SMS to the micro
controller, then issue the control signals to stop the engine.

 

 

4.2                  
Accidental alert

Instead of going for the external sensors
we have preferred to stay up with the phone sensors so the we can avoid noise
and judge our accident perfectly.
